About Respilon
Respilon is a Czech company that makes nano fiber products. Specifically, they make protective face coverings to protect against pollution, allergens and infectious diseases including viruses. Their neck gaiters (or scarves) have a nano fiber membrane (the same as used in their face masks) that covers the nose and mouth.
The company will soon release a new, enhanced version of their standard face masks that includes copper oxide. The current Respilon nano fiber technology blocks viruses but the new copper oxide technology will actually kill viruses in addition to blocking them.
Respilon’s Filtration Technology Has Been Verified By Independent Lab Testing
The effectiveness of Respilon’s nanofiber membrane filtration technology has been verified by Nelson Laboratories, a leading, global testing lab specializing in expert advisory and testing solutions for medical device, pharmaceutical, tissue & biologics companies.
R-Shield Neck Gaiters (Scarves)
The Respilon neck gaiters uses Respilon’s nano fiber technology which blocks particles as small as viruses better than an N95 mask. N95’s block 95% while the Respilon nano fiber blocks 99%. In the future they will be offering these neck gators using copper oxide technology that will kill the viruses in addition to blocking them. The neck gators come in a variety of colors and designs.
The R-Shield Neck Gaiters Are Cost Effective
Not only do the Respilon R-Shields get very high marks for personal protection due to the verified effectiveness of their nano fiber filters, the R-Shields are very cost effective compared to other high-quality face coverings. If you buy, for instance, the brand ‘O2 Nano Mask’ or the brand ‘O2 Safe Air’…you need to buy their replaceable filters. The O2 Safe Air filters cost $3 each while the O2 Nano Mask filters cost $5 each (or $4 if purchased in a multi-pack). On average let’s work this example using a price of $4 per filter. It is probably appropriate to replace the filter every day if you spend any time in a higher risk environment such as a grocery store, at work, and so on. So let’s do an example comparing the cost of using the Respilon R-Shield 50 times versus using the O2 Nano Mask 50 times. Remember… the Respilon R-Shields can be washed 50 times before the filtering effectiveness begins to diminish.
The Respilon R-Shield costs $40 plus shipping, which is high since shipping these items from Europe will cost you $30… so it’s best to buy enough for the whole family plus a few backups for rotation. So, let’s figure on a price of $50 for the R-Shield. So, using the R-Shield 50 times will cost you about $50.
The O2 Nano Mask costs $36 and about $4 per filter, which should be replaced daily. Those 50 filters will cost $200. Add in the shipping which will cost just under 5 bucks. So, using the O2 Nano Mask 50 times will cost you about $240.
The bottom line is that after 50 uses…the ‘O2 Nano Mask’ costs $240 while the ‘Respilon R-Shield’ costs only $50.
RespiPro
The RespiPro face mask with copper oxide wis expected to be available at some point in the not too distant future.
The Respilon website states this mask is:
“A response to the rampant outbreak of the coronavirus – a unique innovation: nanofiber face mask and respirators enriched with accelerated copper oxide that actively kills viruses and bacteria.”
RespiMask
The new RespiMask products enhanced with a copper oxide technology is also expected in the future.
Respilon States the following:
“The Filtration efficiency is equivalent to respirator standards EN-149 FFP1 or US standard N95 as well as EN 14683 – Type IIR Standard for facemasks.”
